Never a dull moment in the Rockpool Group – some things are just a given. People come, people go, new places open, menus change, prawns get bigger, eggplant gets tastier, the XO sauce gets hotter…

Spice Temple Melbourne yum cha

Here at Spice Temple Melbourne, yum cha though, just kicks on! Since its inception in February of this year, we have enjoyed great success and filled many a happy customers belly. The only change these days is an adjustment in opening hours, with yum cha now happenning Thursday through Sunday from 12 midday till 3pm. The menu continues to move and grow as the chefs fine tune their dumplings, pancakes, buns and more. It is extensive and caters well for all with classics interspersed amongst our own version of various bites – congee comes 3 ways – chicken, pork or century egg; we have pork and prawn siu mai, spring onion pancakes, crispy Guangxi pork sliders, Nanjing salt water duck, braised lamb shoulder pot stickers, egg custard wth crab and XO sauce, banana and peanut caramel crepes; and strawberry jelly cakes…just to name a few. The full menu can be drooled over here…

To wash things down, there is of course our award-winning wine list, a great selection of beers, and teas by the name of Jade Sword, Dragon Well Lungchin and Yunnan Gold. Far more exotic than English breakfast!

Larissa Dubecki from The AGE calls us the best yum cha in Melbourne and said of us earlier this year…”Spice Temple. Yum cha. One of the finest unions since Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung in Wong Kar-Wai’s film In the mood for love”. Now, I actually know that film. Made in 2000, set in 1962, it’s a love story. Hunt it out. Watch it. Tissues required.

We look forwad to seeing you in Melbourne for your next hit of yum cha. Bookings on 03 8679 1888.
